You Never Know How Much You Need Data Storage, Servers, And Backup Until They’re Gone
Data storage, servers and networks are a mystery to many people. However, we all use them every day at home and at work.
In an attempt to help people better understand what they are and how they work, I will attempt to explain what these things are and how they work in terms that most people can understand. When people understand what they work with, they can be more responsible users of the computers and their data.
A server could accurately be described as a computer. If you were to look at a server you would see that it looks just like the computer on your desk. The difference in the server comes in when you consider what it does. It is not an end user machine. It is set up to run only certain programs and perform certain task.

Servers are primarily set up to serve up a requested file at the time of the request. When you are at work and you save a document to the network you are really saving it to the server. There are two main reasons why businesses use a server on the networks that you work from in the office. The first reason is to make files available to others in the company that may need them without having to email it to them. The second reason is to save space on your computer so that it runs more efficiently by using the data storage capacities in the server and not on the computer at your desk
Often times, a company may run multiple, mirrored servers at the same time. What that means is that they have one server that is performing the normal duties of a server while the other one ?or more ? is running in the background, storing all of the same data. This form of data storage is used for backup in case the main server should go down.
When you stop to think about all of the work that you have done on your computer, it is important to consider the storage of all of that data. Whether at home are at work, it is imperative to have a plan in place for your data storage. The backup of that data is also a huge issue in both your personal life and for any business.
When it comes to computers, as a society we have become very reliant on them and the data storage they contain. We access data every day personally and much more at work. There are different ways to store the data and it is important that you choose one that will work best for you. Whatever you choose, be sure that your plan includes backup. Only those who have lost data because they did not backup can truly tell you how much it hurts to lose all of that data.
One option for data storage and backup that has grown recently is a web based solution. This is popular because of the flexibility it has to do a lot more than just backup your data. This choice of data storage and backup allows a company to keep their employees working even if there is a major melt down with the server at work.
